Reading Is Fundamental is committed to building a literate America by inspiring a passion for reading among all children, providing quality books to make an impact on the community.
Rochester RIF Program offers three distributions in the Elementary School for all students in grades K-5. At each distribution students are able to select a NEW book that fits their reading interest and level. The books are purchased for each distribution and funded 50% by the PTA and 50% by the district budget.
PTA volunteers hold the distributions which run throughout one school day in December, March and May. The first distribution for this school year is scheduled for December 18. If you are interested in volunteering and have your clearances, contact either Julie Moore (724-312-0748) or Pam Gill (724-775-7500 ext 1711).
Some interesting history about the Rochester RIF program is that we have been serving the children in this community for over 30 years where every child enrolled receives 3 books per year. It could be estimated that over 40,000 BOOKS have been placed in children's hands and homes with this worthwhile program!
