ROCHESTER MIDDLE SCHOOL

Course Prerequisites – Algebra (Grade 8)
To enroll in Algebra as an eighth-grade student, the following prerequisites must be met:

1. Achieve a score of Proficient or Advanced on the most recent (7th grade) Math PSSA,
   AND

2. Meet at least one of the following academic criteria:

   • Earn an average of 80% or higher ("A" or "B") in 7th grade Math

   • Obtain written approval from a teacher or administrator

Prerequisites for Honors & College in High School (CHS) Courses
To qualify for enrollment in Honors or CHS courses, students must:

1. Score Proficient or Advanced on the most recent PSSA or Keystone Exam in the content area related to the course,
   AND

2. Meet one of the following academic criteria:

   • Have an average of 80% or higher ("A" or "B") in the current course related to the Honors or CHS subject

   • Receive written recommendation from a teacher or administrator
