Synchronous Learning
Acceptable Use Policy for Synchronous Learning
During school closures, Rochester Area School District staff may use synchronous learning—real-time communication beyond email—to support your child’s education. This could include academic assistance, therapy sessions, concerts, classroom lectures, and more.
To participate, students and parents must be aware of and agree to the following guidelines:
-
Some sessions may feature only the teacher on video, with students participating via audio. Other sessions may require students to be on video as well.
-
For sessions involving both teacher and student video/audio, all participants should maintain a professional virtual learning environment by:
-
Being mindful of their background
-
Demonstrating respect and professionalism on camera
-
Being aware of other open computer screens or browser tabs
-
-
Parental permission is required for any student to appear on camera/video.
-
We ask that a parent or responsible adult be present at home during video sessions.
-
Sessions will focus strictly on school-related content.
-
School rules apply during all synchronous sessions, including but not limited to:
-
Appropriate dress
-
Appropriate language
-
If you do not wish for your child to participate in synchronous learning opportunities, please contact the teacher offering the session.
