MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air

MacBook, MacBook Pro, and MacBook Air Cleaning Instructions

General Exterior Cleaning:
Before cleaning, shut down your MacBook and unplug the power adapter. Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water to gently wipe the exterior surfaces. Avoid letting moisture enter any openings, and never spray liquids directly onto the device. Do not use aerosol sprays, solvents, abrasives, or cleaners containing hydrogen peroxide, as these can damage the finish.

Screen Cleaning:
To clean the screen, first shut down your MacBook and unplug the power adapter. Lightly dampen a soft, lint-free cloth with water only and gently wipe the screen.

MacBook Pro with Touch Bar and Touch ID (2016 and later):
Clean the Touch Bar and Touch ID (power button) the same way as the screen. Shut down the Mac and unplug the power adapter, then gently wipe these areas with a water-dampened, soft, lint-free cloth.

MacBook (13-inch, Late 2009) and MacBook (13-inch, Mid 2010):
The bottom case of these models has a soft, nonslip material. Use a 3M Gray Microfiber cloth or another soft, dye-free, lint-free cloth to clean the bottom case gently.
