Rochester Music Department
At Rochester, we believe every student should have the chance to explore a wide range of school activities throughout their education. We work hard to coordinate schedules so students can participate in multiple programs simultaneously—whether that’s band, chorus, clubs, organizations, or athletics. Our goal is to encourage students to enjoy a rich and diverse school experience!
Our Ensembles
Marching Band — Directed by Ms. Carr
Open to students in grades 7–12, The Pride of Rochester Marching Band offers an exciting opportunity to advance musical skills while learning corps-style marching and memorizing music and drill. This co-curricular ensemble is required for high school band students and highly encouraged for middle schoolers. The band performs at home and away football games, the Halloween parade, the Beaver County Veterans Day parade, and many other community events. After marching season, students transition to concert band repertoire for the Christmas concert.
High School Symphonic Band — Directed by Ms. Carr
Designed for high school band students (grades 9–12) seeking to deepen their musical abilities, this ensemble performs alongside the Marching Band seasonally. After marching season ends, the group prepares for the Christmas Concert and performs at least three concerts annually. Members also have the chance to audition for prestigious Pennsylvania Music Education Association (PMEA) events.
Middle School Concert Band — Directed by Ms. Carr
Open to all middle school band students (grades 6–8), including beginners and experienced players. Seventh and eighth graders are invited to join the Marching Band as well. This group performs at least two concerts yearly and offers opportunities for selection to PMEA events.
Elementary Band — Directed by Ms. Carr
Fourth and fifth graders can begin learning an instrument through this program. Students receive lessons during scheduled music classes on a rotation basis. Instruments may be rented from Brighton Music Center or Volkwein’s, with enrollment occurring each September.
High School Chorus — Directed by Mrs. Frankenstein
For high school students (grades 9–12) eager to develop their vocal skills in an ensemble setting. Chorus members work on advanced part-singing and prepare for three concerts annually. Opportunities to represent Rochester at PMEA festivals are also available.
Middle School Chorus — Directed by Mrs. Frankenstein
Designed for middle school students (grades 6–8) interested in learning to sing in parts and perform ensemble repertoire. Sixth graders may have the chance to participate in PMEA Songfest, while seventh and eighth graders can audition for PMEA Jr. High District Chorus. The group performs two concerts each year.
All-School Musical
Students in grades 6–12 are invited to audition for our annual musical production. Auditions are held in the fall, with performances in the spring. Whether your talent shines on stage or behind the scenes, we welcome you to share your creativity and be part of this exciting tradition!
