Meet Our Administrators!

Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Jane Bovalino

Dr. Bovalino has been the Superintendent of Schools at Rochester Area School District since 2013. After receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Secondary Education at West Virginia Wesleyan College, Dr. Bovalino began teaching. Her background includes over 30 years of experience as an educator. Dr. Bovalino began her career as a substitute teacher at Riverside High School, then became a TELS (state test) math teacher at Western Beaver Area School District, and then an English and math teacher at Beaver Falls Middle School. While employed by the Big Beaver Falls Area School District, Dr. Bovalino earned her Principal’s certificate, Master’s in Education, Administrative and Policy Studies, Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility and Doctorate - all through the University of Pittsburgh. She has held a variety of administrative positions, including Assistant Middle School Principal, Middle School Principal and Assistant to the Superintendent. In 2022, Dr. Bovalino was awarded the Jean E. Winsand Distinguished Woman in Education Award by the University of Pittsburgh, Tri-State Area School Study Council. This award honors a woman who has made a significant impact and a positive difference throughout her career. Dr. Bovalino and her husband reside in Beaver County.

Assistant to the Superintendent

Dr. Amanda Cwynar

Dr. Cwynar has been an administrator at Rochester Area School District since 2016.  Dr. Cwynar has held a variety of administrative positions, including K-12 Assistant Principal, Elementary School Principal, Athletic Director, and currently is the Assistant to the Superintendent.  Dr. Cwynar joined the Rochester Area School District after teaching Special Education at New Brighton High School for nine years.  In addition to her duties as a teacher, Dr. Cwynar was also the Transition Coordinator at New Brighton.  She has a passion for sports and has coached both soccer and softball.  Dr. Cwynar received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Special Education at Geneva College, her Masters of Curriculum and Instruction at Clarion University and Dr. Cwynar earned her Principal’s certificate, Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility and Doctorate at the University of Pittsburgh.  Dr. Cwynar resides in Beaver County.

Business Manager

Mrs. Kathleen Gomory-Onuska

Mrs. Onuska joined the Rochester School District administrative staff in the 2015-2016 School year. She is a Certified Public Accountant and has worked for several accounting firms in the county, as well as school districts. Mrs. Onuska received her Master’s Degree from Regent University in Virginia Beach, Virginia and undergraduate degrees at both Robert Morris University and Penn State. She is a former Rochester graduate. Her father Jim Gomory was the Physical Education teacher from 1954 to 1988 and two of her four children are successful Rochester graduates. Mrs. Onuska is happy to be home again!

    

    

Middle & High School Principal

Mr. Michael S. Damon

Mr. Damon joined the Rochester Area School District during the 2011-2012 school year.  Prior to administration, Mr. Damon taught Spanish for 19 years. In addition to Spanish, Mr. Damon has taught both Driver’s Training and Yearbook.  He has also enjoyed being involved in extracurricular activities, including coaching volleyball, track and field and football.  Mr. Damon completed his undergraduate degree at Geneva College and his Masters in Education and Administrative Leadership at Duquesne University.  Mr. Damon resides in Lawrence County with his daughter.

Elementary Principal

Ms. Rachael Cipolla

Ms. Cipolla is our Elementary School Principal.  Prior to this role, she served as the Curriculum Coordinator at PA Cyber and Science Teacher at Rhema Christian School.  She also worked for the New Brighton Area School District, as well as several years as a Teacher with the DARE 2 XL program.  A Beaver County native, Ms. Cipolla graduated from Beaver Falls High School and Geneva College with a degree in Biology and Secondary Education.  She completed her master’s degree in Biology from Clemson University, and her master’s degree in Educational Administration from Point Park University in Pittsburgh.  Ms. Cipolla and her family reside in Hopewell Township, and she is very excited to be working with the staff, students, and community members of Rochester!

Director of Student Services, Special Education

Mr. Nathan Leeman

Mr. Leeman is our Director of Student Services. Previously, he worked at Pace School, an Approved Private  school in Allegheny County, for 25 years. He fulfilled the roles of Principal, Education Supervisor and Technology Coordinator, while working with students ages 5 – 21, all of whom qualified for special education services. He has consulted with public and private school personnel throughout the United States and presented at national education conferences teaching and learning about best practices for trauma-informed classrooms, the Sanctuary Model, and Aimsweb, a web-based Curriculum Based Measurement (CBM) tool. Mr. Leeman began his career as a Secondary Math teacher in Texas. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics at St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. In addition to a Masters Degree in Education from the University of Pittsburgh, Mr. Leeman has certifications as a PK-12 Principal and as a PK-12 Instructional Technology Specialist. Mr. Leeman lives in Moon Township with his wife and family.

Director of District Technology

Mr. Ryan Herstine

Mr. Ryan Herstine joined the Rochester Area School District in 2015 as the Technology Specialist and was soon promoted to Technology Coordinator. In 2024, Ryan was again promoted to Director of District Technology. He earned an A.S. in Network/ System Administration from Pittsburgh Technical College and additionally completed several technical certificates. Ryan is a proud father of one. When not at work he enjoys watching his son play hockey and traveling to Disney with his family. 

Director of Building and Grounds

Mr. Lou Campisi

Mr. Campisi has been with the District since 2009. He is a Licensed Master Plumber and spent 20 years in his family’s construction business before moving on to work in the hospitality industry for the Holiday Inn Hotel brand in the maintenance department as a Maintenance Engineer and also Chief Engineer. Mr. Campisi is the Cultural Diversity Sponsor and Freshman\Sophomore Class Sponsor. He spent 20 years as a coach in the Rochester Area Baseball\Softball League and Rochester Little Ram organizations. He is currently an assistant coach for the Rochester Unified Bocce team. Mr. Campisi lives in Beaver County with his wife, is a 1985 Rochester graduate and three of his four daughters are Rochester graduates as well. He is proud to be able to work for and give back to his Alma Mater.

Chief of Police, Safety and Security

Chief Cory Zelenak

Chief Zelenak began his employment with Rochester Area School District in August, 2023 as the Chief of Police/ Safety & Security.  A lifelong resident of Beaver County, Chief Zelenak began his career in law enforcement in 1992 when he attended the Beaver County Police Academy and upon graduation began working as a certified police officer in local municipal departments in Beaver County.  In 1998 he enlisted in the Pennsylvania State Police and upon graduation from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, and promotion to Trooper, was assigned to Troop B, Washington.  During his career with the Pennsylvania State Police, he served in specialized units including Motorcycle Patrol Unit, Bureau of Gaming Enforcement, and Firearms Instructor.  In 2017 he was Promoted to the rank of Corporal and was assigned to Troop D, Butler as a Patrol Unit Supervisor.  His last assignment was as the Patrol Unit Supervisor at the Beaver barracks located in Brighton Township.  His life long love and passion for law enforcement and his commitment to public service is what has brought him to his current position here at Rochester Area School District.
